May 7, 2020 · Transferring DV files to a PC requires a firewire interface. USB (even 3.0) does not have a fast enough sustained transfer speed. These days that would mean a desktop PC with a firewire (IEE 1394) card. You would need a working DV camcorder and video editing software. Most have the capability to capture DV video.

One primary reason is that DV is a constant stream of data, and firewire can handle that. USB can't - it works with interrupted data 'bursts'. Not at all suitable for capturing a 'running' tape stream!
Any BD player support Dolby Vision playback via the USB?
Apr 9, 2023 · I've tried a few BD players that support DV but that support is limited to just disc playback or, possible, disc and streaming but not USB. When I've tried, I get the dreaded purple people. It seems most, if not all, BD players with DV are doing the same thing Microsoft does with the Xbox Series X, support the DV but in a limited capacity.

As you have a desktop computer I would suggest you add a firewire card for a no loss capture from the tapes, however each 1 hour tape will eat up around 14Gb of HDD ...

Nov 11, 2022 · Shield, APTV, Fire Stick, rest ALL play DV BUT from an on-line streaming services as Netflix, Amazon, AppleTV, etc BUT none can play / stream in DV from a Local server via home network. Most of the time those will play / stream Local DV file in just plain HDR10 without DV metadata. Licensing issue.

You really don't want to be continually playing back your 'original' recorded tapes on the Camcorder as you risk damaging the tapes and or the camcorder - get the content digitised, keep the tape safe and stream the digitised content from a NAS which is …
