Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM), formerly known as Wireless Multimedia Extensions (WME), is part of the 802.11e WLAN specification that enhances quality of service (QoS) on a network by prioritizing data packets. WMM has four access categories: background, best effort, video and voice. These are used to assign priority to traffic on wireless networks.
