Neuropathic pain arises from a lesion or dysfunction in the somatosensory nervous system (e.g., due to diabetes, multiple sclerosis, or postherpetic neuralgia).

Aims: DN4 (Douleur Neuropathique en 4 Questions) is a screening tool for neuropathic pain consisting of interview questions (DN4-interview) and physical tests. It has not formally been validated in diabetes.
