To complicate matters, it’s nearly impossible to listen to a DIY speaker ahead of time and if you don’t like it, there’s no 30 day trial return policy. In other words, DIY is a leap of faith.

Dec 2, 2013 · They sound better than any speaker I have heard under 3-4 grand. I have heard a couple 10k speakers that sounded amazing but I have also heard a couple that were mediocre t best. In general though, a 10k speaker will usually have better finish and appearance than the average DIY speaker but the sound quality is highly dependent on the designer.

Nov 25, 2020 · The expense in most speakers is the finish, and with DIY that is all up to your time and effort. I would highly recommend also looking at diysoundgroup kits as well, I've built like 7 pairs of their speakers at this point. Building kits is easy and this forum makes it super easy to solve any problems/questions you have.

Jan 19, 2022 · If I might suggest... we should make a joint forum effort (paid or not IDK -I would gladly pay/contribute-) to design an open source high sensitivity 2-way HT oriented speaker. Sealed - 8" woofer - waveguide loaded 1" CD or dome - passive XO -to be crossed over 80Hz.
