We calculate our greenhouse gas emissions based on widely-accepted international standards including the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) standards, the Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard as well as the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Accounting and Reporting Standard and the Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) Framework.
Managing subcontractors - DHL Group
We have a comprehensive subcontractor management system and include environmental performance among our subcontractor selection criteria. We take part in initiatives to reduce fuel consumption and lower greenhouse gas emissions, and do this together with our subcontractors.
DHL Group’s target is in line with requirements to limit global warming to below 1.5 degrees Celsius for Scope 1 & 2 emissions and well below two degrees celsius for Scope 3 emissions. By 2050, we want to reduce all logistics-related emissions to net zero.
Environment - DHL Group
It includes buildings’ operational carbon emissions according to Scope 1 and Scope 2, with 75% or more carbon reduction and a maximum of 25% offsets with verified carbon credits allowed (compared to a baseline where fossil energy is used for electricity and heating).
DHL’s logistics service supports the decarbonization of our customers’ Scope 3 emissions. Scope 1 of the protocol cover the direct emissions a company produces through their own operations or sources they have control over.
