The de Havilland Canada DHC-3 Otter is a single-engined, high-wing, propeller -driven, short take-off and landing (STOL) aircraft developed by de Havilland Canada.

Oct 15, 2022 · The DHC-3 Otter was designed to be a larger and more robust short takeoff and landing (STOL) plane. As a result, a single-engine aircraft utilizing the pratt & Whitney R-1340 was produced.

The Otter famously opened the Canadian North as the first purpose build bush plane to carry large cargo such full sheets of plywood, snowmobiles and equipment. This legendary aircraft continues to fly throughout the world providing safe, rugged and reliable service.

To start to fill the gap, DHC produced 53 of the DH83C, a Canadian version of the Fox Moth, which proved ideal for exploration of the northern bush country. These were followed by the first of DHC's own designs, the DHC-1 Chipmunk, a training aircraft to replace the Tiger Moth.

The rugged Single-engine, high-wing, propeller-driven DHC-3 Otter was conceived in January 1951 by de Havilland Canada as a larger, more powerful version of its highly successful DHC-2 Beaver STOL utility transport.

Sold to Kenmore Air, it was converted to a Vazar Turbine Otter. It has had several advertising schemes, with this one for the Emerald Queen Casino & Hotel being the latest.

The DHC-3T Otter is a single engined, high wing, propeller driven STOL aircraft developed by de Havilland Canada. It was designed as a larger and more powerful version of the DHC-2T Beaver, with a longer fuselage, greater span wing and cruciform tail.
