Sep 10, 2022 · Each DDR5 module runs in dual channel. DDR5 moved the controller to the Ram module and each module runs with 2 x 32bit channels. Even running a single stick of DDR5 you will still be running dual channel unlike DDR4 where two sticks were required for dual channel.

Dec 26, 2022 · 8gb ddr5 dimms have half as many bank groups (4) vs a 16gb or larger ddr5 dimm (8), which effectively nullifies one of the main benefits of ddr5. Although the difference is minimal as tested by some online reviwers, if youre upgrading you may as well stick to 2x16gb dimms since ddr5 is designed to utilize the full 8 bank groups.

Aug 7, 2023 · Recently, I bought 2nd stick of 32 GB DDR5@6000Mhz RAM from Kingston (Fury beast CL36). This is what CPU-Z reports. Is that normal or should I change some setting in BIOS? I've read that in reality it might be 2x3000Mhz, but I'd like to know for sure. Thanks :)

Dec 20, 2023 · Since it’s AM5 I need DDR5 RAM. I see that a lot of people recommend DDR5-6000 at CL30. For CL30, I can’t find anything at 16GB, lowest is 32, so it’s a significant premium over CL36. My question is: how big a deal is CL30 over CL36? Is a 32GB DDR5 6000 mhz CL30 worth $70ish more than a 16GB DDR5 6000 mhz CL36?

Dec 29, 2022 · Just built a new PC and the 6000 speed RAM is reporting at 4800 when set to 6000 in ASUS AI Tweaker. This only occurs when 4 sticks are used. 2 sticks works fine. ROG Strix X670E-F Motherboard Ryzen 9 7950X Two sets of the ram below for a total of 64GB:

Aug 22, 2023 · Most of the DDR5 RAM on the market are actually DDR5 4800 grade B (CL40) (you can check this by looking at their default JEDEC setting like this or this) and vendors (like Corsair or Kingston) did some modification (or tuning) to make them run faster on XMP or EXPO profile setting (OC), there are also some vendors (like G.Skill) use DDR5 5600 ...

Apr 11, 2023 · When it comes to DDR5 especially, my suggestion is to buy something listed by your mobo maker's QVL (qualified vendors list). While QVL ram wasn't the biggest issue in DDR4 and earlier days, DDR5 seems to be pushing memory controllers to their limit and it can be hit or miss getting high speed ram working with any stability.

Nov 13, 2022 · The actual open source name is ORS (Overclocked RAM Sequencing), and was meant to fix/stabilize DDR5 overclocking issues. ORS would allow RAM manufacturers to submit profiles that could be read by ORS, giving truly customized functional overclocking!
