With todays computers, DB9 is old technology and you wont find(or extremely rare) this port on any new computers. What you will be required to do is get a DB9 to USB adapter, which then allows you to connect via USB. So in brief, to connect to the console management port at the back, you will need a Console Roll-over cable and a DB9 to USB adapter.

Some laptops or PCs don't have this DB9 male serial port to complete the connection, however, we could use a DB9 male to USB serial adapter to complete the physical connection by console. Today we have RJ-45 to USB console cables that are available in the market. Conclusion

Don't get Console port confused with an interface port. Yes, a Console port uses the RJ-45 jack and plug, but the wires are rollover from the DB9 pin connector or USB. Your normal UTP or STP are not rollover. Also, just for fun, the AUX port is used for a modem connections, so you can dial into an offline router to config by dial up.

I can add to what they have said already that switches usually always start with /1 whereas routers always start with /0. So for a two port router you might find g0/0 and g0/1 and for a 24 port switch you will normally see fa0/1 through to fa0/24. To see all the ports on a router or switch you just need to run the command show ip interface brief.
