Jul 23, 2006 · The BCD996T does not have a USB port. It has a standard RS232 DB9 port in the back, and a non-standard serial port in the front. To connect the rear connector to your computer, you need an RS232 DB9 null modem cable (or regular cable with null modem adapter).

Mar 28, 2025 · I know that Harris offers an OEM KVL cable (14002-0143-10 / XMCJ3D), but it seems to go for about $350 MSRP. Kinda crazy for a DB44 adapter of any kind lol. Also have a few XG-25M's kicking around that I'm trying to re-purpose and need some crypto on them for this.

Jun 12, 2010 · My 996xt came with a usb/db9(serial) cable to communicate with the PC.My question is,could I use this same cable to connect from the GPS port on the back of the 996xt,which is also db9 to the usb port on my GPS unit.Are these cables wired differently than a standard cable would be? Dont wanna test it and fry my scanner.

Jul 10, 2022 · The two cables are similar but the plug that goes into the receiver is a very different size for the two versions. Both versions have a female DB9 plug on the other end of the cable. I use Butel software for my AR8200 receivers and it works ok. The key is finding a DB9 to USB cable that Butel Software will recognize on a Windows 10 computer.
