May 24, 2010 · If you want to try photographing birds in flight I suggest starting with big birds, or birds that hover or soar slowly. Hawks, pelicans, swans and Canada geese are ideal. Go to places where birds congregate to improve your chances of finding birds.

Apr 7, 2008 · I've been a D2X shooter for several years and I frequently take pictures of birds on the wing especially migrating raptors. I've been debating upgrading to a D3 but decided to go with a D300 because of 1.5x focal length increase.
