321, GP7u, was built by Electro-Motive in April 1952, #16404, FN 5122-5, as Illinois Central 8957. It was rebuilt at Paducah in February 1969 as IC 7957. It was later sold to Iowa Interstate as 7957 in February 1985.

929, GP7u, was built by Electro-Motive in November 1950, #11345, FN 5033-5, as Seaboard Air Line 1749. It became Seaboard Coast Line 929 in July 1967 and sold as USSC 929. It was sold as RSSX 929 in 2007.

"GP7u" is something of a catch-all description that fans use to describe any GP7 that has been "upgraded." Sometimes that can be as little as chopnosing, or involve more substantial upgrades. Other folks prefer "GP7r," "GP7R," or even "GP7rb" (rebuilt).
