Jun 18, 2023 · What struck me, as soon as you mentioned your rusty 69 Convertible, was the G-body frame swap. It will provide the HP you need - very easily. You do not lose the back seat. Many of those have been done, and the "flexible" nature of the late model convertible is overcome by the added frame.

Sep 30, 2016 · My solution was to put a complete G body chassis under the convertible shell. That way all of the bits and pieces were engineered to work together. A 1986 Monte Carlo was sourced.

Aug 25, 2015 · With a swap, 400HP is pretty easy, 600 HP isn't too hard with a V8. (ok, with a twin turbo V8 you can push 1000+ HP - obviously need very good transaxle) But 250-350 HP should make a Vair plenty of fun to drive - and a nice light package would maintain or improve the weight distribution/handling.

Mar 21, 2025 · This 1966 Chevrolet Corvair was built by Windell Gustama from Rapid Auto Solutions. The car is no longer powered by an air-cooled flat-six. Windell swapped a 5.3 L LS4 V8 from a 2007 Chevrolet Impala sitting on a custom rear subframe. The all-aluminum motor features a Comp Stage 2 camshaft, 243 heads, and 2012 6.0 L truck flex fuel injectors.

I had been considering a 3.8/4.1 swap into an early box Nova (62-65), but I already have a 67 Corvair convertible that may become a candidate. I know it has been done, but have lots of preliminary questions to get answered before I make this decision.
