Cortes Bank is a big wave surf spot located 110 miles (177 kilometers) west of the coast of Point Loma in San Diego, California. The shallow seamount is the outermost feature found in the Channel Islands chain. Around 10,000 years ago, during the last Ice Age, the Cortes Bank was a small island randomly submerged depending on the sea levels.
