Nov 18, 2022 · Cort is actually the OEM that makes a lot of instruments for many other companies. They're one of the largest manufacturers in the world. If you see a guitar/bass made in Indonesia, China, or Korea, there's a decent chance that they made it and slapped a diff label on it. Cort has produced guitars for Squier, G&L, Ibanez, PRS, etc.

Jul 26, 2015 · For what it's worth, Cort has tends to get a bad rap because it's a discount brand. It shouldn't. Most guitarists/bassists probably own instruments that were made by Cort since do contract builds for numerous big brands (Squier, Epiphone, Ibanez basses that weren't made in Japan, G&L Tribute). These are all great instruments.

I have a 2001 Cort A4 with the two piece bridge, it has 5 knobs. I only just found out that is supposed to have a push/pull volume control knob for active/passive. However it does not seem to be able to push/pull it appears fixed. Is it possible that this is not meant to be a push pull volume knob? It has the Barteloni Mk1 pickup.

Jul 3, 2022 · I'm sure you'd be happy with it, although that voicing selector might be gimmicky or great, hard to tell. Having said that, the Cort is obviously a superior instrument. The neck-through design, the Bartolini electronics. Some players don't know the Cort brand, but a lot of high quality instruments are made in their Indonesian factory.

I don't know the Cort specifically, but I have other instruments with 'open pore natural' type finishes and I've long used Dr. Duck's Axe Wax (not a wax, but an oil). I would guess the Cort is actually not unfinished, but is just a non-thick finish of some kind.
