So I’ve heard other Coraline fans asking for a second movie. However, the other mother says, “ Don’t leave me, I’ll die without you!” And Coraline throws the key away. So that doesn’t leave much room for any other story line. I think it’d be cool to go back into the history of the Beldam and the Pink Palace.

Coraline is also based on a children's novella, and the stop-motion process probably helps to sell it as a fantasy. If it were released today, it's likely they would have toned down some aspects of it, though.
