Jun 24, 2023 · Religious Copts are members of the Coptic Oriental Orthodox Christian church. Or maybe, the Coptic Catholic church as well (yes, that exists). Anyone can be a member of these churches, yes, even Arabs and Nubians, who have their own ethnic identity. Ethnic Copts are their own ethnicity indigenous to Egypt.

Egyptian Muslims being Arabs, and Coptic Christians being ethnic Copts. How does this work out, if non Copts convert to the Coptic church (This is just as much applicable to Assyrians, Syrians etc.)?

And before anyone calls Egyptian Muslims “fake pharaohs”, they are actually closer to Nekht-Ankh than Copts. This seems to be true, or at least to be a mindset many Copts hold. Now I think we have a bit of a victimhood mentality in 2020. Everybody wants to be a victim, everybody wants to be oppressed. But it seems like we hear stories of Copts dying on a semi-regular basis. Also, yes, many are abandoning the country through emigration.
