Jan 5, 2020 · Streets and homes in the bushfire-threatened town of Cooma were flooded last night after a tank burst, dumping 3.5 million litres of water on some areas. The tank, one of two on a ridge north of the Snowy Mountains town, exploded shortly after 9:00pm, sending a deluge into about 20 houses. A woman sustained minor injuries.

UPDATE 11 pm, 4 January: As fires rage around the Monaro, darkening skies in Cooma by late afternoon, a 4.5 million litre water tank has ruptured in the town. Snowy Monaro Regional Council reported just after 10 pm that the Cooma North main tank had failed and emergency services were on the scene.
