The Comper C.L.A.7 Swift is a British single-seat sporting aircraft designed and produced by the Comper Aircraft Company. It was the company’s first aircraft. The Swift was designed shortly after Nicholas Comper ’s departure from the Royal Air Force to focus on the project.

Designed by RFC veteran Nicholas Comper, the Swift was built for the private flying market. The prototype was flown around Christmas 1929. Production was underway in 1930 with three variants being offered; the cheapest at £400 powered by the 40 h.p. ABC Scorpion, next by the 50 h.p. Salmson AD9 and lastly the Pobjoy P-engined Swift.

Having gained this experience Comper left the RAF to set up the Comper Aircraft Company. Their first product was the Comper Swift which was produced from 1929 until 1934. The Swift was available in either red or blue and became one of the most popular racing aircraft of the 1930s.

The Swift light sports aircraft was designed by Lt Nicholas Comper. Formerly of the RAF and Airco, Comper had previously designed amateur builds with the Cranwell Light Aeroplane Club. Of wooden construction with a plywood and fabric covering, the Swift's wing was mounted directly atop the fuselage, ahead of the cockpit, and braced.
