Nov 6, 2016 · My original 602 upper is also rounded for a standard charging handle. I've always just figured it was a later model. I'll post a pic after I take one...I've had all the parts, including Edgewater, chrome BCG, original upper and upper parts, NDS lower and lower parts, and 602 furniture for years. Maybe now I'll be motivated to assemble it...

Jul 1, 2019 · Only with cast FSB's. Remember the 602 was a commercially available product that were bought by government units independently. When the AR15 was looked at as an issue weapon, one of the things they wouldnt accept was the cast FSB. Some changes were made and voila....the Colt 603 and 604.

Handguards are no drain hole Type D (I'd love to find a mint set of Type C's that would compliment the gun). Charging handle is a Nodak repro. *Colt 3/4 round carrier with Colt thin band MP bolt. NOS flat head firing pin with a repro firing pin retaining pin.

Nov 18, 2023 · Example: The 602 you are referring to with the forward assist from the Colt Toolroom in TBR was very likely marked as a 602 and even probably began life as a 602. However, with the forward assist, that rifle clearly becomes an XM16E1 (603) prototype, even though it likely wasn’t marked as such.

Apr 26, 2014 · I had a nice Colt Model 602 build before, but for a variety of really stupid reasons, I sold off everything except the NDS 601 slab-side lower. (actually, it was to build a 300 BLK for a patrol carbine for the high-country security contract I had.)

Sep 7, 2019 · Plus, 604's had distinct M16, CAL. .556 and USGovt Property stamps. 602's had the AR-15 stamp, but Included the CAL. .223 AND Model 02 stamp, plus in most cases, the US Govt stamp. What I believe I have, is a one-off build by Colt for the collector, of a factory select fire Colt AR-15 602/604 hybrid.

Aug 1, 2011 · Your grip is a later fat one. It would be OK to use it on a 602, but it would not be the correct one. On the Type C (left side) take notice of the thinner edges & the lack of the hole on the receiver lug. Most Type C's will not have the hole, some later ones will, so the only way to be sure is to look for the thin edges.
