Jul 11, 2019 · There is a lot of info on the internet about the Corliss Steam engine. It was built in a variety of sizes, some very large, in the order of ninety tons of casting! It's era started circa 1879.

Jul 11, 2019 · It looks like it is a Coles' model as it matches the one on the cover of the catalog 22. I was hoping to get some information on this model such as when was it first offered? Is it a model of a known engine or an original of the Corliss type? Can you still get drawings as Coles appears to be out of business? What scale is this model?

Oct 26, 2020 · I was able to finally get my hands on what I believe is the last complete unbuilt casting kit to a Coles Corliss Steam Engine. I was a machinist for 34 years but I was only able to buy my own lathe and mill in the last two years and I'm still very short on tooling for them.

Jan 6, 2003 · Do you all remember the Heckel (or Hanson) Lane & Bodely Corliss, the big one, originally from 1938-39, which was subsequently serialized in Live Steam? That's the Corliss model, or one similar to it, I recall seeing briefly advertised from Coles, and that was in addition to the Chas. Coles Corliss.

Nov 22, 2015 · Here is an extraordinarily fine execution of a Duplex Lane and Bodley Corliss as built by John McDivitt out of cast iron, steel, and brass. John made each part himself from castings, bar stock, round stock, etc, including every last stud, nut, and bolt. All his engines, even the oldest from 1949-50 run very smoothly on low pressure. Oct 10, 2023 · I think that there may have been more than one version of the Coles engine. GreenTwin posted a video of a Corliss engine in this thread that is a mirror image of mine. On the engine in his video, these instructions make much more sense.
