Apr 25, 2012 · Colace is a stool softner, so it won't make you go more frequently. I usually take 2 a day, one am/pm. I also take 500 mg mag oxide and Miralax daily. I usually go every other day. These are safe for daily use. Be careful of "stimulant" laxatives, as they can cause bowel dependence when used long term.

Jun 12, 2008 · Miralax helped the stool be passable. It was rx and finally became generic, so went from $80 for 3 months to $20 for 3 months. Now it is OTC, but is about $8 for 5-6 servings. If you can get the rx, it is much cheaper, safe, daily, for life, according to my GI doc. The stool softeners are store brand equal to Colace, not PERI-colace.

Oct 27, 2006 · The label says that because the company wants to make sure that people aren't using the medication for extended periods of time without notifying their doctors. They're covering their asses that someone doesn't use Miralax to treat a serious problem that needed medical attention. I've been using Miralax every day for the past two weeks.

Dec 19, 2011 · I've had bad constipation in the past even before surgery so I've had to set up a pretty serious program: a dose of colace in the morning and at least 12-15 grams of fiber during the day. I'll add a dose of miralax if I haven't had a BM for 36 to 48 hours as I don't want to let things go too long due to my past problems (2 impactions). End TMI ...
