Nov 21, 2010 · It's obvious which blank you have if you can compare the different versions side by side, but someone with experience will tell you that the Cod 6 has a firm through action, with the Cod 5 noticeably softer. The Cod 4 would be like a Bass rod. Semi-carbon versions were an update, but that was just a fillet of carbon blended into the lower tip.

Nov 12, 2012 · The alloy butts are made from Duraluminium, a stronger alloy than plain aluminium, it makes the butt very stiff, the Cod 6 butt I rebuilt was about 4 feet six inches of alloy, that was glued into about one foot six inches of semi carbon,with a spigot section fitted to take the tip.The tip is a bit thicker than some of todays rods, but still good as registering bites.

Jan 4, 2012 · The Cod series and the DC series all used the same mandrel; the only differences were the cod series were 8' tip, the DC series slightly longer, the weight cast depended on the number of wraps of the glass cloth on the mandrel. The Cod were 4,5 & 6, the DC were 2,5,6 & 8, both series were later available as semicarbons.

May 31, 2009 · I had a cod 6. as a young lad. It had a alloy butt section. Believe it was available with different butts though. I seem to remember there wasnt any real difference between the 5 and 6 in terms of just looking at the rod.

Apr 24, 2016 · 12ft , 8ft tip with a 4ft aluminium butt from what I can remember but also had a cod 6 both nice rods . I managed to get an updated version 2-3 years ago of the super flick tip from conoflex, only 12 blanks were made real shame there closed

Jul 10, 2007 · The rod was made on mandrels of 10-12thou per inch taper, and an 8 foot tip was around 3/16" at the tip to an outside dia. of around 1 1/4", with a glass or alloy butt of 1" or for the more powerful COD 6 version, spigotted to 1 1/8", a standard butt made the rod 12' long, but "Mac" would happily make butts of 4/4.5/5/6 feet if required.
