In 2025, there are 162 Clontarf academies within 172 schools across Western Australia, Northern Territory, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia. Staffed by full-time mentors, Clontarf academy rooms are welcoming, inclusive and designed to foster positive learning and personal growth for the young men in our programme.

Feb 10, 2025 · Clontarf Academies across Australia have reopened for the new school year, welcoming back returning students and introducing new members. Enrolments are strong, and over 12,000 students are expected to be part of the program when the academy member census takes place in March.

The Clontarf Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that assists in the education and employment of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men.

The Clontarf Foundation commenced in 2000 with a single academy located at the Clontarf Aboriginal College in Waterford, WA. The programme catered for 25 students and was operated by two staff members, including founder and current CEO Gerard Neesham.

Full-time, locally based Clontarf staff mentor and counsel students on a range of behavioural and lifestyle issues while the school caters for their education needs. Any Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander male enrolled at the school/s is eligible to participate in the Clontarf academy.

Seven Clontarf Foundation academies are being piloted in 9 SA government schools from 2019 until 2021. The program is offered to young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men in years 5 to 12 at participating schools.

Clontarf opens three new academies in QLD, located in Brisbane, Palm Beach and Yeppoon. The Foundation continues to operate its network of academies during the COVID-19 pandemic. A number of primary school programmes are established in WA and NT to assist in the transition from primary to secondary school.

The Clontarf Foundation has 150 Academies around Australia. The Foundation supports, mentors, and equips young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men between Year 7 and 12 to participate meaningfully in society.
