May 17, 2019 · The little alarm clock is part of the Recently used apps feature. It shows on top of Apps the system has learned you use a specific time of day. So if you open a particular app every day at 3pm for whatever reason, the system learn this, and anticipates it, and places the app there for you to open it and places the clock icon on it.

Go to the App Library (swipe left past your last home screen). From there you can touch and hold an app and slide it left back to the home screen.
