The British Rail Classes 105 and 106 diesel multiple units were built by Cravens Ltd. of Sheffield from 1956 to 1959. The class were built with a side profile identical to British Railways Mark 1 carriage stock, using the same doors and windows.

They were the only DMU type to be delivered to four different regions: Eastern (50 sets, 100 vehicles); London Midland (38 sets, 95 vehicles); North Eastern (31 sets, 63 vehicles); and Scottish (22 sets, 44 vehicles). They operated in areas around Manchester, East Anglia, East & North London, Newcastle, Scotland, Cumbria and Lincolnshire.

The dmu is a Cravens 2-car set of Class 105, made up of cars 56464/51279. From memory I think it has arrived on a service from Newcastle and is about set back over the crossover into the eastbound platform to form the 13.10 back to Newcastle Central.

Class 105/6 Cravens 2 & 3-car DMUs Description The body and underframe were of an integral design, with additional framing members on the power car to handle the extra loading of the power equipment, and the large doorway openings in the luggage compartment.

Oct 15, 2015 · Have recently inaugurated my first layout and tried to run my Class 105 for the first time since installing new decoders. The lights work but it won't move despite producing a hum that increases as I turn up the throttle (NCE Power Cab).

Jun 4, 2011 · Cravens class 105 – A batch of 85 vehicles were built (lots 30352/53/54) in 1957 and formed into 19 three car sets and 14 power twin sets. (M50752 – M50817 and M59307 – M59325).

On 14th July the 19:45 arrival at Edinburgh Waverley from Glasgow Central from Shotts was formed of set 550 - 53377 (Class 105 DMBS) + 59805 (Class 107 TSL) + 53505 (Class 104 TSL). The arrival of further 104s and 120s from the LMR saw some changes to set formations, such as set 532 which now contained 51294 + 59796 + 53669.
