CHEK1 - Wikipedia
Checkpoint kinases (Chks) are protein kinases that are involved in cell cycle control. Two checkpoint kinase subtypes have been identified, Chk1 and Chk2. Chk1 is a central component of genome surveillance pathways and is a key regulator of the cell cycle and cell survival.
Checkpoint kinase 1 in DNA damage response and cell cycle regulation
Originally identified as a mediator of DNA damage response (DDR), checkpoint kinase 1 (Chk1) has a broader role in checkpoint activation in DDR and normal cell cycle regulation. Chk1 activation involves phosphorylation at conserved sites.
CHEK1 Gene - GeneCards | CHK1 Protein | CHK1 Antibody
Mar 30, 2025 · CHEK1 (Checkpoint Kinase 1) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with CHEK1 include Oocyte/Zygote/Embryo Maturation Arrest 21 and Lynch Syndrome 2. Among its related pathways are HDR through Homologous Recombination (HRR) or Single Strand Annealing (SSA) and Autodegradation of the E3 ubiquitin ligase COP1.
Roles of Chk1 in Cell Biology and Cancer Therapy - PMC
DNA damage induces activation of Chk1, which then transduces the checkpoint signal and facilitates cell cycle arrest and DNA damage repair. Significant progress has been made recently towards our understanding of Chk1 regulation and its implications in cancer etiology and therapy.
Functions and inhibitors of CHK1 in cancer therapy
Jun 1, 2024 · CHK1 plays a crucial role in cancer biology as it modulates cell cycle checkpoint activation and DNA repair. Furthermore, a number of other cellular functions of CHK1 are also gradually discovered.
New Insights into Checkpoint Kinase 1 (Chk1) in the DNA Damage …
Recently, new insights into DDR signaling pathways support the notion that Chk1 represents a core component central to the entire DDR, including, in addition to checkpoint regulation, direct involvement in DNA repair and apoptotic events.
Reality CHEK: Understanding the biology and clinical potential of CHK1
Jan 28, 2021 · Originally identified as a regulator of the G2/M checkpoint, CHK1 has since been shown to play important roles in DNA replication, mitotic progression, DNA repair, and overall cell cycle regulation. However, the potential of CHK1 as …
