The Nakajima Ki-44 Shoki (鍾馗, "Devil Queller") [2] was a single-seat fighter - interceptor which was developed by the Nakajima Aircraft Company and operated by the Imperial Japanese Army from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. Its official designation was Army Type 2 Single-Seat Fighter (二式単座戦闘機) and its Allied reporting name was Tojo.

A Ki-44 Shoki of IJAAS, 9th Air Combat Group, was shot down by Chinese fighter pilot Wang Sung-Chin (Songjin Wang) on his Curtiss P-40N Warhawk No. 659. Allegedly the Nakajima Ki-44 crash-landed and caught alight, but its pilot refused to surrender and burnt himself to death.

Oct 26, 2022 · Chinese Ki-44 has lower br in both AAB and ARB than the Japanese one, which is exactly the same (to my knowledge). Except the chinese one has a way cooler camo. Personally I prefer ones with two 12.7mms at much lower br. That performance at 2.7 is just amazing.
