Dec 19, 2021 · On the first visit, we will drop a sponge from the top of the chimney to the base of the flue. We will then pour the PCR down the chimney and pull the sponge up using a winch. Once the PCR cures, we will return to remove any residual debris. Shifted flue tiles were also observed in the chimney, which can allow smoke to escape the flue.

Aug 27, 2019 · What's the general thought on poured liners vs. SS liners. We actually have a poured liner in our fireplace's masonry chimney that the previous owner did about 20 years ago. It seems to work well draft wise. Is a poured liner overkill for a concrete block chimney? Overall I'm looking for something safe and long-lasting.

He said he has the correct equipment to ovalize liners and is happy to do it for me (I helped him build a deck last year, we kinda have a quid pro quo thing going on). My chimney terracotta liner is 6.5x11, so I plan on taking him up on the offer so I can insulate my liner.

Dec 21, 2020 · The chimney use to service an oil burner..... It was new pipe installed about five years ago....(ditched and old chimney and installed the Classa A pipe..... It was a little sooty inside.. ran the 6" brush up it..... a bunch of time..... probably got about 3/4 of a 5 gallon pail of soot out of the chimney.....

Oct 7, 2008 · If you have a shake roof or live on wooded property, it's a damned good idea to leave it installed. In any case, the chimney cap/spark arrestor screen are not a source of creosote, just a nice cool place at the top of the chimney for creosote to condense out. The creosote is being produced in the appliance at the bottom of the chimney.

Apr 22, 2010 · This is not quite correct. Draft strength is a function of chimney height and temperature differential. At the same flue and outside temps, a 20' tall 6" diameter chimney will measure the same draft as an 8" one of the same height.
