Hugo Macias is currently the Chief of Custody Services Division, General Population, for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD). He is responsible for the operation of six jail facilities with an overall Division inmate population of approximately 12,500.

As of January 31, 2021, the Executive ranks from Captain to Chief were represented by 26 females, compared to 94 males, which resulted in 21.66% female and 78.33% male representation. Department females account for 18.3% of LASD personnel at all ranks (The national average is 11.9%).

Commander Smoke is the 11th Commander serving Los Angeles County. He has been a former Commander and Assistant Sheriff of LASD. Smoke graduated the academy in 2023. Smoke is the Deputy Chief of the investigation bureau, and is also the brilliant mind behind the currently department wide used warrant system to help us catch wanted criminals.
