CDK5R1 - Wikipedia
Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 activator 1 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the CDK5R1 gene. [5][6] The protein encoded by this gene (p35) is a neuron-specific activator of cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (CDK5); the activation of CDK5 is required for proper development of the central nervous system.

Mar 30, 2025 · CDK5R1 (Cyclin Dependent Kinase 5 Regulatory Subunit 1) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with CDK5R1 include Alzheimer's Disease and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Among its related pathways are Gene expression (Transcription) and Defective Intrinsic Pathway for Apoptosis.
CDK5R1 cyclin dependent kinase 5 regulatory subunit 1 [ (human)]
Tumor-suppressive microRNA-152 inhibits the proliferation of Ewing's sarcoma cells by targeting CDK5R1. Elevated CDK5R1 predicts worse prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma based on TCGA data. The Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 5 Inhibitor Peptide …
Multiple Layers of CDK5R1 Regulation in Alzheimer's Disease …
Jul 11, 2018 · Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 regulatory subunit 1 (CDK5R1) gene encodes for p35, the main activator of Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (CDK5). The active p35/CDK5 complex is involved in numerous aspects of brain development and function, and its deregulation is closely associated to Alzheimer's disease (AD) onset and progression.
Cdk5r1 cyclin dependent kinase 5, regulatory subunit 1 [ (house …
Feb 8, 2025 · Cdk5 (cyclin-dependent kinase 5) requires p35 regulatory subunit (Cdk5r1) for activation; data suggest Cdk5r1 stability regulates Cdk5 activity in neurons; Cdk5r1 is rapidly degraded by 2 proteasome methods, ubiquitination-dependent and -independent.
Functional characterization of CDK5 and CDK5R1 mutations
The functional study of CDK5R1 p.A108V mutation evidenced an impaired p35 cleavage by the calcium-dependent protease calpain. Moreover, luciferase constructs containing the CDK5R1 3'-UTR mutations showed altered gene expression levels.
Physiological and Pathological Roles of Cdk5: Potential Directions …
Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5) is a proline-directed serine (ser)/threonine (Thr) kinase that has been demonstrated to be one of the most functionally diverse kinases within neurons. Cdk5 is regulated via binding with its neuron-specific regulatory subunits, p35 or p39.
CYCLIN-DEPENDENT KINASE 5, REGULATORY SUBUNIT 1; CDK5R1 …
Cyclin-dependent kinase-5 (CDK5; 123831) is found in several tissues in adult mouse, but brain is the only tissue that shows Cdk5 histone H1 kinase activity, suggesting that a CDK5 regulatory subunit is responsible for the activation of CDK5 in brain.

Elevated CDK5R1 expression associated with poor prognosis ...
Dec 1, 2022 · In six types of tumors and combined data, a poor prognosis was associated with increased CDK5R1 expression. The CDK5R1-associated genes were connected to the primary oncogenic pathways in cancer cells, according to the co-expression network.
