Replied by Andy1845c on topic Cat D8 1955 15A Questons Yes, I do have the rear double spool CCU. Always wanted to find one with the front CCU and Hyster towing winch, but it seems those are mostly out west in logging country from my observations.

Replied by firpitch on topic Cat D8 1955 15A Questons I use the splitter for stumps as the pointed end is away from the cat and back into the stump. It works best to back in from the high side in third gear a release the clutch as you hit the stump using the momentum of the cat.

The 14A-15A and 35A, 36A & 46A manuals are all loose leaf binders (8-1/2 x 11) The 15A & 35A both use diesel fluid. Early 15A's do not have brake boosters. Serial # 1673 up have boosters. All use drum brakes (as part of the steering clutch assemblies) The 35A,36A,46A have compound gear final drives (no cover plate) The 15A is a single reduction.

from my 1965 Cat Powershift Transmission School notes is the following leakage rates in the second paragraph of the actual Machine's Service Manual trans. section, given to us in the school notes. Your unit is just exhibiting normal low level leakage which the Refrigeration type graphite seals must do to lube themselves and survive.

Replied by Old Magnet on topic Cat D8 1955 15A Questons Ok, I wasn't focusing on the linkage but the operation at the gear box and pinion is still the same. It is the movement of the collar (and shaft) when you move the lever that engages the latches.

Dec 21, 2023 · Hi, I just found this club and I think its probably the perfect place to ask about a 15A D8 that I am working on. My customer left it at a show and it flooded and froze the right hand steering clutch solid so he hired me to remove it and rebuild it.
