When shopping for Ram do you mainly look at CAS LATENCY?
Aug 10, 2022 · The ideal range for today for DDR4 is 3200-3600 and many people would go with cas latency 16 or 18. Of course, you can go higher in frequency and lower in latency but for real world performance, the difference isn't that much and isn't worth IMO the higher price tag unless you are trying to go for records.
RAM Latency vs. Clock speed: which and why? - Tom's Hardware …
Dec 9, 2013 · The CAS latency is the duration (in clock cycles) that it takes for the DRAM module performing a read operation to register a column address and produce a stable output on the IO pins. This delay is measured in IO bus clock cycles, …
CAS latency adjustment - Tom's Hardware Forum
Jan 21, 2017 · Well, anytime you start overclocking and playing around with RAM frequency or timings, you need to make sure it's stable. You can use something like memtest86. But no, decreasing CAS latency won't automatically cause problems, and low …
How much will CAS Latency effect performance?
Jul 7, 2016 · CAS latencies and RAM speed for gaming are irrelevant as long as they are relatively tight, and at native speed. For rendering RAM frequency is more important, but again, CAS latencies play a very small part here, don't seriously …
Cas, Latency, Timing - Tom's Hardware Forum
Nov 4, 2013 · The lower the CAS Latency or CL for short, the better the RAM. The higher the frequency the better the RAM. BUT having RAM with massively high frequency and high latency is not beneficial, there needs to be a balance somewhere depending on the usage you have. For example a good balance for your average system is 1600/1866 CAS 9 RAM.
[SOLVED] - How to understand CAS Latency Timings
Aug 25, 2011 · CAS latency with a lower number means tighter timings. A higher number means timings are more relaxed. Memory specifications usually determine what the optimal timing settings are for a kit of memory. Which one to choose would depend on the CPU used and your overclocking preferences.
Question Is 6400mhz CAS 32 worse than 6000mhz CAS 30 when …
Nov 1, 2021 · After a bit of research it seems like the ideal speed and CAS latency to pair with the 9800X3D are 6000mhz/s and CAS 30. True! I've helped a friend build a system with Corsair Dominator Platinum's rated to run at DDR5-6600MHz CL32 on an MSI B650i Edge WiFi + 7800X3D, hasn't complained since it was built.
What is Cas Latency?? : r/buildapc - Reddit
May 19, 2021 · CAS latency / CL is "column address strobe" latency: The number of clock cycles required to access data in a new column when the correct row is already open. You don't need to get into technicalities. Just remember lower is better everything else being equal.
Discussion - How much difference does memory latency make on …
Apr 13, 2023 · Why does DDR5 have so much more CAS latency than DDR4? kerberos_20 Champion. Dec 24, 2011 9,881 1,587 55,740.
RAM - Are better CAS numbers higher or lower? - Tom's Hardware …
Nov 28, 2015 · Lower CAS Latency is wanted, all else being equal. Actually the base formula for calculating effective memory latency (in nanoseconds) = 2000 x CAS Latency ÷ Memory frequency in MHz Lower Effective Latency is also preferred. So for memory rated at CAS 12 @ 2666 MHz; effective latency = 2000 x 12 ÷ 2666 = 9.00 ns
