Jun 22, 2006 · It was $300, and I bought the 2 year warrany ($30?) which I haven't used. I did buy a Mile-marker canvas winch cover for $15, and I keep it covered. I would recommend shortening the winch cable if used as a dedicated trailer winch. …

Amp draw while winching - Pirate 4x4
Jan 22, 2005 · Ok, I have a fullsize Bronco with a Warn 9500 winch. I would like to know what the amp draw would be under load, as in winching up hills. I will be running dual Napa orbitals or dual Optimas with a 100 amp alt. Will this alt. be enough to keep the batteries charged while winching? I also have 1/0 welding cable for battery cables.
How to mount Winch in Garage - Hot Rod Forum
Jul 7, 2014 · I mounted the winch on a plate with a arm welded on the back. I then welded a pin through the arm and a handle above the winch. I drop the pin into whichever hole is in front of my load and make the pull. Everything loaded, the winch unplugs from the power cord and is stored away. This way you don't have to move anything to get at the winch.

Jan 22, 2025 · Never had an issue of it not working and I think it was on special for $250 when I bought it. The nice part of my setup is the winch mounted inside my bumper and a receiver hitch below it. This allows me to pull a car onto any trailer from the front of my truck, easily park the car and slowly lower it from the trailer.

Winch for a car trailer - Hot Rod Forum
Jan 16, 2010 · I use a 3000# winch to pull my 2700# streetrod into the gooseneck. I does not even groan. Get a winch at least the weight of the car. Nothing like having the cable break half way up and have to chase a runnaway car. I like to put a heavy jacket or blanket over the tow line. It will slow down the cable if it breaks.

Winch for trailer. How big? - Pirate 4x4
Dec 20, 2005 · It works beautifully so far - and I will NEVER own another trailer without a winch, period. My first trailer winch was one of those $59 Harbor Freight winch-in-plastic jobbers. It claimed 6k rolling pull, but the thermal overload would trip several times just pulling a car up the ramps. And that was with a snatch block for double line use.
Calculating pulley load requirement for winch | Hot Rod Forum
May 18, 2009 · The pulley at the "car" end of the winch setup is rated at 800 lbs. The pulley at the winch end is rated at 650 lbs but it is separate from the winch itself so my understanding is this would actually be safe for up to 1300 lbs. The winch itself is rated for 2000 lbs total and is rated to pull 1500 lbs with the two pulley setup I am using.
