Jan 9, 2023 · Do you have any experience with Capri S? From what I've read, it seems to be a bit different than the persistent and non-persistent caprifigs in that it doesn't ripen any crops except the breba/profichi like a San Pedro fig. Is this true? I got one for hand pollinating.

Jan 6, 2023 · A caprifig that holds it figs and doesn't drop them without any fig wasp present is considered to be persistent. Cold hardiness probably varies between cultivars. If you have a specific named one in mind it would be easier to find out.

Take a look at the Caprifigs that are now available. While Caprifigs are male and not for eating, they prove to be great rootstock, a necessity for hand pollination, and some varieties can even bear at least one edible crop.
