Elliot Capo VS. Shubb Fine Tune - The Acoustic Guitar Forum
Sep 13, 2018 · In the spirit of providing fine-tuned personal experience for folks to consider (and not to mention the hunt for the perfect capo) I’ve decided to write my experiences with the best capo’s on the market. To begin, let me say I’m a modern fingerstyle-forward player who dabbles in standard tuning, Drop D, DADGAD and DADF#AD.
Dissatisfied With Elliott Capo - The Acoustic Guitar Forum
Dec 10, 2024 · I sold my Elliott-McKinney capo, too clunky and slow to use in ‘live’ situations or sessions, and it creaked like an old gate when tightening the screw. Where cradle-style capos are concerned, I’ve tried most of ‘em, and it’s back to my trusty old Shubb deluxe or standard every time - fast and simple in use, thin, light, and strong.

Oct 10, 2024 · The Pro Plus is an excellent side adjust capo, but it does have a tendency to muffle the string response slightly. Not much, but enough that I continued looking at newer offerings. The Dunlop Pivot is the best capo I have found to date. After using various capos over the last 60 years I've settled on using the Dunlop Pivot.
Easy way to tune down a half step? - The Acoustic Guitar Forum
Mar 23, 2012 · Doing it with your capo method, you may well need to tweak the tuning just a bit after you take the capo off -- or better yet, tune it with the capo off, after you tune down, with the tuner -- you should of course be very close to the right notes, so just slightly tune up or down, if necessary, to get it right on the money. Hope that makes sense...
NCD: Capo Review - Shubb Fine Tune F1 - Acoustic Guitar Forum
Sep 18, 2018 · This capo just works. My favorite thing about the NS (next to the price) is the ease of use with just one hand. Unscrew the knob a bit, move to next position, tighten a bit. Even the design with the wide base and side contact area make it simple to get the capo on straight without looking. I capo up near the fret but not right on it.
out of tune with capo - The Acoustic Guitar Forum
Jul 15, 2018 · A capo with adjustable tension should also help, as will one with a matched radius to your fretboard. If the nut is indeed cut high, a good luthier can help with that. I used to love spring capos, specifically Dunlop, but I use screw-adjustable capos now. I don't use a capo often, but it's nice to be mostly in tune when I do.
Capo making strings buzz - The Acoustic Guitar Forum
Aug 9, 2015 · Hi the Shubb range of capos will provide a capo that matches the radius of your fretboard that way all the strings will receive the same approx amount of pressure from the capo . Some guitars like a capo better that others . My J45 is no problem but my GS Mini E has a problem with capos above the 2nd fret (strings sometimes go sharp ) .
Gordon Lightfoot and the capo - The Acoustic Guitar Forum
Jan 6, 2024 · Songwriters might use a capo to a) change to a key that's better suited to their range, or b) change the chord 'shape' to be easier for them. Perhaps Gordon is referring to "b" (While both Dylan and Neil did use some open tunings, I don't think that's what Gordon Lightfoot was referring to; I think he was meaning 'open' as in not capo'd.)
Yoke-Style Capos: Paige, Shubb, or D'Ad? - The Acoustic Guitar …
Jan 29, 2019 · I think capo success has much to do with having your guitar set up properly, which takes in to account capo use. I have a G7 capo and it works, but not well on all guitars. It is heavy and clumsy too. I don't think any capo can be guaranteed to work on all guitars in all situations. The basic Page will probably be just fine for you.
Thalia Vs. G7th Capo? - The Acoustic Guitar Forum
Oct 31, 2017 · If the radius of the capo doesn't match the radius of the guitar, then you could have more pressure on certain strings. I've used this capo on my PRS with good success, although the D G strings would be a little sharp. My Taylor was darn near perfect, but my Martins with the more flat 16" radius affect the outside strings.
