Oct 11, 2022 · This is a Canonet 19, a 35mm rangefinder camera built by Canon of Japan starting in January 1961 and sold in the United States by Bell & Howell. When sold with the Bell & Howell name, it was known as the Canonet 19, but when sold by Canon, it was simply the Canonet.

May 5, 2023 · The 17 and 19 have speeds from 1/4-1/500s, and the 25 has 1/15-1/500; there was also a more basic QL 19E model, from November 1965 with a 1/15-1/500s Seiko shutter, recognisable by the self-timer lever being mounted beside the lens barrel, rather than on the barrel itself on the Copal models. The QL 17 has a battery tester.

The Canonet QL 19 was released in March 1965 by Canon and sports a 45mm f/1.9 Canon lens. The Canon Museum notes that its original retail price was ¥20,800 with an additional ¥1,800 for the leather case. There was a QL 17 version released at the same time.

The Canonets were a series of rangefinder cameras made by Canon from the early 1960s to the early 1980s. They were aimed at enthusiasts on a budget and more discerning point-and-shoot photographers. The cameras are considered to have made Canon famous worldwide.
