Back in 2019 the Northern Silence Productions website had Caladan Brood/Emyn Muil-Split CD/LP and Gallowbraid-new album CD/2LP listed under the upcoming records section. The Caladan Brood split was removed in 2019 and the new Gallowbraid was removed in 2020. Maybe someday they will get released.

Their music contains less fantasy themes, but includes many incredible soaring, epic moments throughout their discography, al la Caladan Brood.

However, while Summoning focuses on The Lord of the Rings like so many other bands, Caladan Brood sings about the epic fantasy series The Malazan Book of the Fallen .

Nov 6, 2015 · Want to make a suggestion that maybe half-baked, so feel free to throw me out on my ass if you disagree, I find them more related to the 'mysterious' and 'etheral' atmosphere of Summoning than the more warlike one of Caladan Brood, but I've found that if not entirely by sound, Appalachian Winter is a really good fit for 'grand, atmospheric black metal'.

I don't think these two should be compared as alternatives to the other, but as complementaries. Summoning has that sensation of ever evolving melody that Caladan Brood lacks, all right, but Caladan Brood has a tone of grandeur that's missing from most of Summoning.

They don't spoil anything for those who have yet to read the books, but as soon as you read the section that the lyrics are referencing, the depth of their meaning becomes suddenly apparent.
