Sep 28, 2023 · For the record, none of the deer that are tested result in a "negative" determination, the results are either "positive" or "not detected". A deer can be infected with early stages of CWD and test "not detected", whereas had the deer lived another 6 months to a year, would have likely tested "positive".

Aug 25, 2001 · I just received the CWD test data for the first half of 2024 for Texas. The breeder deer tested had a 0.81% apparent infection rate and the free-range deer 0.69%; hardly a rampantly occurring deer disease in anyone's objective book. CWD has been reported in Texas since 2012. Testing began in 2002, and since then 130 free range deer tested positive.

Jan 12, 2025 · Because there is no effective vaccine for CWD & CWD is uniformly fatal, no individual immunity can occur. Oklahoma to combat CWD by releasing Captive deer
Jul 31, 2001 · EXTREMELY dangerous - to the point of absolute scientific malpractice - to release those deer into the wild. My guess, the legislator is being bamboozled by deer breeders trying desperately to save their industry. Nature will get around to finding deer genetically resistant to CWD. Get out of her way and let her work.

Dec 16, 2024 · Although, there is absolutely nothing that anyone can do about CWD in the long run. Soon, it will be in every state regardless of how many rules and regulations are put into place. I think the Wildlife Agencies hurt deer more by all the deer shootoffs they do than CWD.
Deer hunting in unit CWD and placing mineral rocks
Mar 16, 2023 · Considering 1) the high saline environment of a salt lick actually strengthens the CWD causing prion, 2) salt licks do little to nothing for deer, 3) deer remember the salt licks their mother showed them, and will travel back to those same licks in summer no matter how far they've dispersed from them (meaning deer from a very wide area will use a salt lick) I would not and do not recommend ...
