Electro-Motive GP9 Diesels 4442, Class GR-17d, was built in June 1956, #21449, FN 5443-1, as Grand Trunk 1768, Class GR-17d. It was renumbered 4442 in 1956 and later transferred to CV as 4442, Class GR-17d, in July 1963.

In New England, CV and GT power began to mix more frequently when GT's Island Pond, VT shop was closed and maintenance shifted to the CV shop in St. Albans. In the early eighties we began to see more CN run-through power as well on both roads.
