Nov 8, 2008 · The 1983 CR480 is a damn fine dirtbike. The suspension was a little soft but they handled well and the motor was strong with fairly broad spread. The worst part about the 480 is starting it. They're notoriously stubborn to start and the left side kicker doesn't help matters.

Sep 30, 2007 · The 1983 CR480 was puting out 51 hp. This one I rode today was ported, had the head shaved, and had a pro circuit pipe and silencer, so it prolly had a couple more horse. A 1999 CR500 was around 56 hp in a very small RPM range.
