Feb 19, 2024 · 2 CN's first four SD60F's (CN 5500-5503) are alternately known as SD50AF's and were numbered 9900-9903 from 1985 to 1988. They differ from the rest of the SD60F's by having high mounted numberboards, as did their SD50F predecessors.

The EMD SD50 is a 3,500- horsepower (2,610 kW) diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division. It was introduced in May 1981 as part of EMD's "50 Series"; production ceased in January 1986.

It is the Canadian variant of the EMD SD50 six-axle diesel-electric freight locomotive. Nicknamed the ‘Draper Taper’ after CN’s Chief of Motive Power at the time, it has a full-width cowl body and cab, with a tapered section immediately behind the cab for improved rear visibility.

My order for an Aurora Miniatures CN SD50AF was delivered yesterday. I haven't had a chance to take it out from the packaging to power it up. My problem is that it did not have any paper work included. Oversight by Aurora? My two SD60F both came with a six page instruction with pertinent information (CV list, etc) included.

Oct 4, 2006 · In 1989 they were renumbered to match the SD60Fs being delivered and are now considered SD60Fs, CN road class GF-638a (for the four built in 1985) and GF-638b (for the 1989 order). According to the CNcyclopedia page, all four are still on the job.
