May 13, 2021 · The GP9s from GTW have accurate M3 hornsounds while the CN and CV versions have P3 sounds. This seems like an unusual horn choice because the standard horns for early CN locomotives were the M3H and later the K3L.

Both the 7259 and slug 236 are GP9 units, built in 1958-59 and remanufactured at the CN Pointe St-Charles in Montreal. CN 7259 was the former 4259 with high hood, till about 1990 when it was remanufactured and CN 236 was converted around 1988.

Canadian National Railway 4000-4036 are CN/GMDD GP9RM diesel locomotives. They were rebuilt in batches by CN at their Pointe St. Charles Shops in Montreal, Quebec during the 1980's and 1990's from GP9 locomotives originally built by GMDD in the 1950's. They were given the designation "RM" for "Remanufactured".
