Here's the bell and bracket on Pacific Harbor Line GP9 #103 (ex-SP). Edited 1 time (s). Last edit at 10/08/09 08:34 by SP_8299. On N&W units, it's located at the top of the short-hood. On CN GP9RM's the bell was located in a bracket, top of the long hood to the right of the horn location.

Both the 7259 and slug 236 are GP9 units, built in 1958-59 and remanufactured at the CN Pointe St-Charles in Montreal. CN 7259 was the former 4259 with high hood, till about 1990 when it was remanufactured and CN 236 was converted around 1988.

Apr 20, 2021 · I couldn't find any "F" on the frames, but the bell was located on the end or the long hood. It looks like some may have been reconfigured for short hood forward when the "stripes" paint scheme came into being. Or possibly they were equipped with dual controls. That's a question for a CN expert.
