USS Little Rock (CL-92/CLG-4/CG-4) is a Cleveland -class light cruiser and one of 27 completed for the United States Navy during or shortly after World War II. She is one of six to be converted to guided missile cruisers and the first US Navy ship to be named for Little Rock, Arkansas.

For the next 4 years Little Rock annually sailed to the Mediterranean, joining the mighty 6th Fleet, serving as its flagship in 1963, as it maintained the peace in southern Europe and the Middle East.

Mar 15, 2021 · LITTLE ROCK has served as Flagship for Commander Cruiser Division Four, Commander Second Fleet, and Commander Sixth Fleet. Her second deployment as Sixth Fleet Flagship commenced when she relieved the USS SPRINGFIELD (CLG-7) on 25 January 1967, and changed her homeport to Gaeta, Italy.

Laid up in reserve since June 1949, LITTLE ROCK was redesignated CLG 4 in May 1957, some months after beginning conversion to a guided missile light cruiser at the Camden, New Jersey, shipyard of the New York Shipbuilding Corporation.

Aug 16, 2023 · The crew of the Little Rock and other Sixth Fleet ships evacuated 279 people from Lebanon on June 20, 1976, and transported them to Athens, Greece. On July 4, 1976, it was anchored at Cannes, France, to celebrate the bicentennial of the United States.
