Staining of HLA-DR, Iba1 and CD68 in human microglia reveals ... - PubMed
Aug 15, 2017 · These results indicate that microglia markers have different potential for neuropathological analysis, with HLA-DR and CD68 reflecting immune activation and response to tissue damage, and Iba1 providing a marker more suited for structural studies in …
Iba-1-/CD68+ microglia are a prominent feature of age …
Jan 25, 2019 · The immunoreactive profile of CD68 increased in a stepwise manner from control WM to NAWM to DSCL. This correlated with a shift from small, ramified cells, to larger, more rounded microglia.
Beyond Activation: Characterizing Microglial Functional Phenotypes
Regions seemingly devoid of microglia in the IBA1 staining, exhibit positive staining for several other microglial markers such as TMEM119, CD74 and CD68. Occurrence of IBA1-positive microglia at the margin (↑) suggests only localized changes.
A Guide to Microglia Markers - Biocompare
Jun 10, 2022 · Some of the most well-established markers of microglial activation are actually the general microglial markers Iba1, CD68, CD206, and CD45. Not only do microglia express these markers at baseline, some at low levels (CD206 and CD45 in particular), they upregulate these markers during activation.
Markers of microglia in post-mortem brain samples from patients …
Dec 12, 2017 · CD68 is a common marker for macrophage lineage cells, primarily localized to microglia within the brain parenchyma, and perivascular macrophages in the cerebral blood vessels and, occasionally ...

Staining of HLA-DR, Iba1 and CD68 in human microglia reveals …
Aug 15, 2017 · Iba1, CD68 and HLA-DR are widely used immunohistochemical markers for human microglia. Expression of Iba1, CD68 and HLA-DR varies with the phenotype of microglia and can therefore not be used interchangeably. HLA-DR and CD68 overall reflect immune activation and response to tissue damage of microglia but are not always co-expressed.
Ionized Calcium Binding Adaptor Molecule 1 (IBA1) - PubMed
Jun 17, 2021 · Collectively, IBA1 showed much higher sensitivity and specificity (93.7%, 97.1%) compared with CD14 (65.4%, 88.2%), CD68 (74.4%, 74.2%), and CD163 (52.6%, 90.6%). Conclusions: IBA1 is a novel, highly sensitive, and specific marker for diagnosing neoplasms of monocytic/histiocytic and DC origin.
Nov 15, 2016 · HLA-DR had the greatest total surface area in the rim (16.0%), followed by CD68 (7.1%) and Iba1 (3.1%). 94% of the Iba1+ area also stained for HLA-DR, whereas only 17.4% of the HLA-DR+ area was positive for Iba1.

Apr 28, 2023 · We identified a significant increase in microglial Iba1 and CD68 expression in the human ALS motor cortex, with microglial CD68 being significantly correlated with pTDP-43 pathology load.
