Byakuya Kuchiki (朽木 白哉, Kuchiki Byakuya) is the 28th head of the Kuchiki Clan, one of the four great noble houses in Soul Society. A Shinigami, he is also the captain of the 6th Division in the Gotei 13. His previous lieutenant was Ginjirō Shirogane and his current one is Renji Abarai, promoted after the former's retirement.

Byakuya uses Byakurai in his battle against Kōga Kuchiki. Nanao Ise uses Byakurai to stop Katen Kyōkotsu toying around. Byakuya uses Byakurai as special effects in a movie.
