The BVG Class IK is a type of electrical multiple unit used on the Berlin U-Bahn. In August 2011, BVG announced an order of IK series to replace A3L71 stock which had reached the end of its working life. Two prototypes were bought from Stadler Rail with the remaining 38 units being delivered between 2015 and 2017.

Die Baureihe IK ist ein Fahrzeugtyp für das Kleinprofilnetz der Berliner U-Bahn. Mit geringen Umbauten können die Züge aber auch im Großprofilnetz eingesetzt werden, was mangels einsatzfähiger Großprofilfahrzeuge seit dem Oktober 2017 auf der U5 praktiziert wird.

The rolling stock on the Berlin U-Bahn are the main types of cars for the underground railway (subway). They are split into two general categories: Kleinprofil ("small profile", used by the U1, U2, U3 and U4) and Großprofil ("large profile", used by the U5, U6, U7, U8 and U9) lines.

They are currently used on Berlin U-Bahn as BVG Class IK, on Minsk Metro as M110/M111 series, on Glasgow Subway as the G3 stock, [2] [3] on Merseyrail services in Merseyside as the Class 777 and on the Tyne and Wear Metro as the Class 555s. [4]

Jun 28, 2017 · Es ist soweit: Das U-Bahn Großprofil bekommt den ersten IK-Zug der Serie IK17 von Stadler ausgeliefert. Nach der Herstellung in Pankow, wurde die Einheit 1027 in Velten technisch in Betrieb genommen und absolvierte auf dem dort vorhandenen Testgleis über mehrere Wochen sämtliche Testfahrten.

Jul 6, 2016 · Die beiden Prototypen, welche die BVG inzwischen auf den Namen „Icke“ getauft hat, befinden sich bereits im Fahrgastbetrieb. Die elf Vorserien-Fahrzeuge aus der ersten Bestellung der BVG werden derzeit gebaut. Bis Mitte des Jahres 2019 soll die gesamte Flotte von 38 Zügen einsatzbereit sein.
