Apr 19, 2008 · - FIRST rig a wire from the spark plug terminal to about 1/4" of the other top terminal. This will act as a safety spark gap. If you do not use a safety gap, the high voltage could arc inside the coil, ruining the insulation. - Connect the battery. The coil should make a buzzing sound and a blue spark should jump across the safety gap.

Oct 26, 2019 · I would recommend the simpler, no capacitor version of Evac1, 99.99% of the applications don't need the capacitor. As for connecting the buzz coil to the engine, in my diagram the ignition switch is the timing/points switch on your engine while the kill switch is an added external switch to shut the engine off.

Jan 1, 2006 · $80 for the smaller buzz coil unit, is a little high for my pocket. The buzz coil unit cost about $10 to made, and am using a coil from one the new systems, that have coil per plug. They are $3 at Pick & Pull, junk yard. If you can not build one, the premade unit is the way to go.

Apr 4, 2015 · I don't know about the Detroit model but Ford's have an internal capacitor that could be open or shorted. In either case the coil won't work properly and is difficult to diagnose. You shouldn't let the coil buzz without a sparkplug connected and grounded either. To do so can damage the coil windings.

Sep 5, 2013 · This is as simple as it gets!!!! He explains it very well. I highly recommend that you buzz your coil.. Make sure it is a true 12 volt coil not a 6 volt that requires a resistor. I have seen several coils that say they are 12 volt but to use PT# xxxxx resistor, these are really a 6 volt coil. 7 or 8 amp hr gel cell batterys last a long time.

The box with the switch holds the coil, the other is a 12V game camera battery. In one position the switch powers the coil, in the other it connects the battery to the wall mounted battery charger.
