Nov 18, 2024 · Another Corsair is making headlines, as the USS Midway Museum in San Diego has welcomed a newly restored F4U-4 Corsair (BuNo 97349) to its collection. This follows the recent addition of FG-1D Corsair (BuNo 92013) to New York’s Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

Jul 19, 2024 · One is BuNo 02270, which was forced to land in shallow water on Efate Island (now part of the island nation of Vanuatu) on May 5th, 1944, and is now under restoration to be capable of airworthiness at the Classic Jets Fighter Museum at Parafield Airport, near Adelaide, Australia.

Vought F4U-5N Corsair (BuNo. 122179), being restored to airworthy status by Fighters & Legends LCC in Greenwood, Mississippi after crashing on 25 February 1984.

BuNo 97349 served stateside with a number of squadrons including VMA-251, VMF-235 and VMF-232 before it was stricken from active service in July of 1956. In 1959 it became one of many F4U-4 Corsairs saved from imminent destruction by aviation entrepreneur Bob Bean.
