May 22, 2017 · The 119 (and variants) grip is way too slippery when wet with water or blood.. Maybe with a mod like bike inner tube that fits tight, or skateboard tape, or checkering. And I've broke a blade clean in two while a kid, throwing a Buck.

Jun 12, 2010 · My 60’s vintage Buck 119 with 440C steel survived a tour in Nam and was my primary fixed blade until I passed it on to my son last year. Not sure what the more exotic steels can offer for normal camping or survival tasks. My current fixed blade knife is an ESSE 4HM in 1095 steel that I absolutely love.

Feb 6, 2012 · Hey yall , I've been thinking about getting a new knife for bushcraft and hunting and can't decide between the buck 119 and the usmc kabar. Both are time tested knives and have positive reviews but the 119 is a little bit cheaper than the kabar. Does anybody have any experience with the two knives?

Nov 2, 2011 · The Buck 119. A classic outdoors knife if ever there was one. Everyone from Les Stroud to the killer in Scream has found it to be quite a handy and capable knife. I'm no exception. Since I was gifted this knife in 2001 I've used it countless times to dress game, split firewood, prepare meals, hammer tent stakes and do all sorts of camp chores.

Apr 16, 2012 · If buck would make a knife like the 119 but with the laynard hole, the guard mostly gone, some file work on top, and no clip so the point was shaped a lot more like a spear or kephart blade I would be all over it. your mods probably got the 119 closer to my prefered style of blade than anyother 119 mods I have seen.

Apr 8, 2023 · A Buck 119 was my only fixed blade knife from 1966 to 2021. My first Buck 119 saw combat duty in Nam. Unfortunately, the handle material failed near the end and the sheath was in poor shape. I contacted Buck when I returned home and they gifted me a brand new Buck 119 with sheath and thanked me for my service.
